The 12th annual session of "Outstanding Young Chemical Engineer Blast Carboblocks- Thyssenkrrup Induatrial Solution Award 2016" was organized by IIChE students' chapter of Datta Meghe College of Engineering Airoli on 26th and 27th Feb 2016 in the Institute premises under the guidance of the convener of the event Dr. Mrs. K.S.Deshmukh Head- Chemical Engineering Department and co convener Prof R.W.Tapre. The student's committee comprised of Mrunal Salvi, Pooja Yadav, Amit Sampat, Salil Rajwade, Aniket Singh, Ankit Mishra and all the students volunteers. It was a national level technical paper and poster presentation for UG, PG, Research Scholars and working professionals under the age of 35 yrs. The concept of this award competition was to give an opportunity to the budding Chemical Engineers who at UG level are keen to show their work and interest in the chosen field to the gathering of Chemical Engineers. Along with award sponsor Blast Carboblocks and Thyssenkrupp Induatrial solutions (India) the main sponsor were Shalkoot, Nexus Polychem and Montage Chemicals. Dr. Vijay Habbu, Senior Vice President, Head- Research, Technology & Sustainability Assurance- Polyester Sector, Reliance Industries Ltd. agreed to be the Chief Guest during the inaugural session with Mr. P.K.Saxena Director and CEO, Blast Carboblocks Pvt. Ltd. as guest of honor in presence of IICHE MRC Chairman Dr. Alpna Mahapatra. Principal of DMCE Dr. S.D.Sawarkar and Dr. S.R.Devane Dean Academics represented the Institute and received the guests. Dr. Jyotirmoy Banerjee Group Head - HR (Kazstroy Service Group) Petron Engineering Construction Ltd. gave a talk on "Skill Gap in Industry Institute Interface". Chemical Engineers from various reputed organizations, academicians from IITB, ICT, and Mumbai University and Committee members of IIChe extended their eagerness and support to evaluate the presentations for these two days. After the final rounds on 2nd day a informative technical Talk was given by Mr. N. Ramamohan, Associate Director, NPCIL on the topic "Science and Engineering behind Nuclear Power". Mr K.S. Rao Executive Director – Sales, Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (India) accepted the invitation for being Chief Guest for Valedictory function. Chief guest, guest of honor Mr. Sushil Kumar and Mr. S.K.Saxena, along with Dr Mrs Alpana Mahapatra and Dr. D.J Pethe presented Gold trophies, cash prizes and certificates to winners, runners and participants.
